The Biotech City is a biotechnology and life sciences hub of the Metropolitan Montreal including world renowned biopharmaceutical firms and research institutes employing more than 5,000 individuals. 
Our mission is to ensure the attraction, development and growth of corporations born our of health science research and to provide them an environment conductive to success. 
Created by a partnership between the City of Laval and the NIRS, the Biotech City is a hub of knowledge where exceptional inter-university collaboration and science companies converge for research, training and commercial development.
Working together with the research institutions on its territory, the Biotech City helps resident companies innovate and become more competitive.

Locate on the INRS campus in Laval, the Center Armand-Frappier is a research, training and technology transfer center, with 47 professors-researchers and more than 160 graduates and post-graduate students whose expertise is grouped into three areas:
 
  • Infectious diseases, immunology, cancer and epidemiology
  • Environmental biotechnology 
  • Environmental toxicology and pharmacochemistry 
Thanks to this exceptional know-how and its state-of-art facilities, the Center, and the University, enjoy an enviable place on a global scale.

The Armand-Frappier Health Biotechnology Center operates the doping control laboratory accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
